Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, held separate meetings in Erbil with Irfan Siddiq, the British Ambassador to Iraq, and Patrick Durel, the French Ambassador to Iraq.
Discussions focused on the current situation in the region and the upcoming parliamentary elections in Iraq. Both sides underlined the importance of ending the war in Gaza, describing it as a crucial step towards establishing lasting peace and stability in the region.
On relations between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed: “The agreement on the oil issue between both sides is of great importance. We are working diligently to turn this agreement into an opportunity to resolve all outstanding issues once and for all—particularly the matter of salaries and the Kurdistan Region’s share of the budget.”
Speaking about the forthcoming parliamentary elections, Qubad Talabani noted: “Holding transparent and fair elections in a stable and secure environment is vital for Iraq’s stability and for forming an effective government that meets the aspirations of all communities.” He encouraged citizens to take an active part in the elections and shape their future and that of their country for the next four years.
