Qubad Talabani.
Qubad Talabani, supervisor of the electoral campaign for List 222 in Erbil, affirmed that the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) is the strongest supporter of civil society organisations in both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
Speaking at a gathering in support of PUK List 222 in Erbil Governorate, Qubad Talabani recalled that “President Mam Jalal, speaking from Surdash in 1984, called on all groups and segments of society to organise themselves into unions, organisations, and associations to demand and secure their rights.”
He went on to explain that the PUK has always believed — and continues to believe — in the vital role of unions and civil society organisations, as they not only defend the rights of various social groups but also safeguard democracy and promote political and social progress.
Talabani emphasised that the PUK remains the most committed political force in supporting civil society organisations across the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, noting that a vote for the PUK is a vote for stronger and more influential civic institutions. He urged all civil society activists to make every effort to back the PUK in the forthcoming elections.
