Qubad Talabani: Winning PUK Candidates Will Carry the Veteran Peshmergas’ Spirit to Baghdad

Qubad Talabani, Member of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), has reaffirmed that the courage and devotion of the Peshmergas and veteran fighters shall remain the PUK’s guiding spirit for future generations.

During a meeting with veteran Peshmergas of the PUK, Talabani paid tribute to their lifelong sacrifices and unwavering loyalty to the PUK and the people of Kurdistan.

“The most beloved members of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) are the heroic Peshmergas and veteran fighters who brought honour to both the PUK and Kurdistan during the most difficult times. They fought with courage and selflessness for the victory of the PUK and Kurdistan,” he said.

Talabani expressed his deep respect and admiration for the veterans, saying he was profoundly moved by their energy, strong will, and commitment to the values of the PUK.

He emphasised that the current generation of PUK members must draw lessons of resilience and perseverance from these veterans, whose sacrifices secured freedom and dignity for the Kurdish people.

“I assured them that the PUK candidates who succeed in the upcoming elections will carry this same spirit to Baghdad — to defend the rights of the Kurdish people with courage and faith, and to uphold the status and position of the PUK and Kurdistan in Baghdad,” he added.
