With only two days remaining, the 7th International Book Fair held in honour of President Mam Jalal continues for its ninth consecutive day on Saturday, 11 October 2025, drawing significant public interest and participation.
Atta Karim, Supervisor of the PUK books corner at the fair, told PUKMEDIA that more than 5,000 PUK-related books, including around 1,000 diverse and comprehensive titles, are being presented at the fair.
The event is organised by the Kurdistan Region's Ministry of Culture in coordination with the President Jalal Talabani Foundation and will continue for 11 days. It remains open to the public daily from 10 AM to 10 PM (local time).
To ensure ease of access for all citizens, transportation facilities have been arranged, with buses provided for visitors who do not have private vehicles.
This year’s fair has attracted wide international participation, with 173 local and foreign publishing houses and cultural centres from 17 countries showcasing thousands of titles.
The 6th Sulaymaniyah International Book Fair featured 40,000 titles and nine million books by 200 local and international centres. Approximately four million books were sold, and the event drew nearly half a million visitors.
The 7th International Book Fair was officially inaugurated on Friday, 3 October 2025, in the presence of Iraqi First Lady Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmad, Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, Minister of Culture Hama Hama Saeed, and Sulaymaniyah Governor Abu Bakir.
