Karwan Gaznay, the Spokesperson for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) has welcomed the decision to lift the ban on Jalal Talabani International Airport.
The statement reads:
The PUK, as a proponent of democratic and peaceful struggle, continues to work tirelessly to consolidate peace in the Kurdistan Region, across Iraq, and throughout the region.
This historic legacy, alongside the diplomatic efforts of Mr Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the PUK, in advancing the peace process and establishing Sulaymaniyah as a hub for its progress, has guided the PUK’s approach.
We commend the efforts of the President of the Kurdistan Region and welcome the news of the lifting of the ban on Sulaymaniyah International Airport. We are also pleased that the announcement of resumed flights follows the airport’s official renaming as Jalal Talabani International Airport.
