Iraqi Parliament to Vote on 11 Key Draft Laws in Wednesday Session

The Iraqi parliament is set to hold its regular session today, with MPs scheduled to vote on 11 draft laws and proposed bills covering a wide range of issues.

According to the agenda released by the parliament’s Media Office, lawmakers will consider amendments to laws on compensation for victims who lost limbs under the former regime, the National Authority for Nuclear, Radiological, Chemical and Biological Control, renewable energy regulation, and mental health.

The session will also address ratification of the Agreement on the Encouragement and Reciprocal Protection of Investments with Saudi Arabia, Iraq’s accession to the Convention on International Exhibitions signed in Paris in 1928 and its subsequent protocols, as well as amendments to the Industrial Investment Law and the Civil Defence Law. A draft law on the Right of Access to Information is also included.

Further items include proposed legislation regulating trade unions for workers and craft employees, and bills recognising the rights of victims of the Ibn al-Khatib Hospital fire, the al-Naqa’ Centre tragedy, and the al-Hamdaniya incident.

The Parliament’s Media Office confirmed that all technical and logistical preparations have been completed to ensure a smooth voting process.
