PUK and KDP Presidents Meet in Erbil to Discuss KRG Cabinet Formation

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) convened on Tuesday, 30 September 2025, in Pirmam, Erbil, to deliberate on the current political situation and the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) cabinet.
Bafel Jalal Talabani, PUK President, and Masoud Barzani, KDP President, led the meeting joined by senior officials from both sides, including Qubad Talabani, Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, Nechirvan Barzani, Masrour Barzani, and Hoshyar Zebari.
The talks come amid accelerated efforts to reactivate the Kurdistan Parliament and form a new government, nearly a year after the Kurdistan parliamentary elections.
Last Saturday, the PUK and KDP presidents held another meeting to discuss the political situation in Iraq and the region, as well as the process of forming the new KRG government.
