On Saturday afternoon, 27 September 2025, Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received a phone call from Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani.
At the start of the phone call, the Iraqi PM expressed his gratitude and appreciation to President Bafel Jalal Talabani for his sustained efforts, initiatives, and endeavours over the past period to strengthen ties between the governments of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, culminating in an agreement to resume oil exports from the Region, for which he offered his congratulations.

He emphasised: "We hope that all the financial entitlements of the Kurdistan Region will be transferred as a right and in compliance with the constitution, and that this agreement will contribute to greater stability in the country."
