PUK VP: PUK Representatives Must First Serve the Kurdish People

Rifaat Abdullah, Vice President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with candidates from the Sulaymaniyah constituency for the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections.

In his remarks, Abdullah stressed that at this stage of Iraq’s democratic process, PUK representatives are expected to perform effectively and take on new responsibilities within the political arena.

He emphasised that PUK representatives must place the national and constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region above party or personal interests.

“Before representing the PUK, you must be the true representatives of the Kurdish people,” he underlined.

Abdullah also urged the candidates to make realistic and responsible pledges to voters during the campaign period, adding that defending Kurdistan’s national rights and legitimate constitutional demands should form the core of their programme.
