The Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced the launch of a second confidential tender for the study and design of the Sarchinar Dam in Sulaymaniyah.
In a statement received by PUKMEDIA, the ministry invited eligible companies and engineering consultancy offices to obtain tender documents from the General Directorate of Dams and Water Facilities. The deadline for submitting bids has been set for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, 25 September 2025.
According to the ministry, the project is to be completed within 120 days, with a bid validity period of 90 days from the date of opening. Penalties for delays have been fixed at 150,000 Iraqi dinars per day.
Participation requirements stipulate that bidding companies must be classified within grades (1–9) and duly renewed for the year 2025. Bidders are also required to submit a valid tax clearance certificate, together with company identification or an official authorisation letter when collecting the bid form.
The Sarchinar Dam will hold two million cubic metres. Once completed, the projects are expected not only to strengthen tourism infrastructure but also to positively impact the environment and groundwater resources.
Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, conducted a field visit to review the Sarchinar dam, where he instructed the relevant authorities to finalise administrative and technical preparations for the Sarchinar Dam, so that work can begin without delay.
