Sulaymaniyah Hosts Iraq’s First International Forum for Nurses and Health Professionals

The first international forum for nurses and health professionals is set to open today, Friday, 12 September 2025, in the city of Sulaymaniyah. According to the Head of the Health Professions Syndicate, the event is the first of its kind in Iraq and will run for two days.
In a press statement, Hawzhin Othman, Head of the Health Professions Syndicate, said: “The first international forum for nurses and health professionals begins today in Sulaymaniyah. It is the first of its kind in Iraq.”
Othman added that the forum is being organised in cooperation with the General Directorate of Health in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, the University of Sulaymaniyah, the AITOC organisation, and the Health Professions Syndicate. The programme will run over two days.
Outlining the agenda, Othman explained: “Eight seminars will take place during the forum, four today and the remainder tomorrow, the second and final day, along with 15 workshops.”
He stressed that the purpose of the forum is to address the problems and shortcomings facing the health sector in general, to propose practical solutions, and to present recommendations and proposals to the relevant authorities for implementation.
