Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, met a delegation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce headed by Steve Lutes, vice president and deputy head of Middle East, Central Asia and Türkiye at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, accompanied by representatives of the U.S.-Iraq Business Council.

The discussions centred on harnessing new technologies and artificial intelligence to advance economic development in the Kurdistan Region, while also strengthening strategic trade relations between Kurdistan and the United States.

Deputy Prime Minister Talabani underlined the government’s efforts to equip Kurdish youth with skills in technology and entrepreneurship. He stressed that the Region’s talented and innovative young people can play a vital role in harnessing artificial intelligence and modern technologies to support Kurdistan’s development process. He further noted that their expertise would also serve to deepen trade and economic ties with the United States.

“Strengthening trade relations between Kurdistan and the United States will enable us to realise our vision of positioning the Kurdistan Region as a key economic and technological hub in the wider region,” Deputy Prime Minister Talabani affirmed.

He added: “We are very pleased with the visit of this U.S. trade delegation. There is no doubt that Kurdistan represents a significant opportunity to become an important trade partner of the United States in the region.”
