Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid received Joshua Harris, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Iraq, at Baghdad Palace on Monday, 8 September 2025, on the occasion of his assumption of duties.

The meeting centred on strengthening bilateral relations and advancing initiatives that serve the mutual interests of both nations and their peoples. President Rashid reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to building balanced partnerships based on mutual respect and shared interests.

The two sides also reviewed regional and international developments, emphasising the importance of joint efforts to promote stability and foster constructive dialogue among all stakeholders.

Mr. Harris expressed his honour in representing the United States in Iraq and underscored his commitment to working closely with Iraqi partners to expand cooperation across various sectors, with the aim of supporting security, stability, and prosperity in Iraq and the wider region.
