Aso Mamand, Member of PUK Politburo.
Aso Mamand, Member of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), has affirmed that the party works in Kirkuk to serve all communities without discrimination.
Speaking to PUKMEDIA, Mamand stated: “In the past, there was clear discrimination and injustice against Kurds, Turkmen, and some members of the Arab community by an acting governor. Today, that marginalisation has ended. The PUK, through the Kurdish governor, serves all communities equally.”
He added: “Since the governor assumed office, it has been evident to everyone that services are provided to all communities without bias, and his efforts are clearly visible.”
Mamand explained: “Kirkuk is now on a path towards improved services, reconstruction, and prosperity. Our focus is on ensuring the city has an effective council to oversee the delivery of services and administrative affairs.”
He noted that in the near future, new service projects in Kirkuk will be announced. He emphasised: “The PUK follows the approach of the late President Mam Jalal, implementing strict policies while working through the governor to serve all communities. It is clear that the PUK is fulfilling its promises and paying significant attention to Kirkuk. Citizens have shown their confidence in the party in previous elections, and we have programmes in place to continue expanding services for the public.”
Regarding the elections, he said: “It is now more evident than ever that the PUK and Kirkuk are inseparable. The people of Kirkuk have consistently shown loyalty to the legacy of President Mam Jalal. The election results reflect this, and we hope the PUK will gain even greater support in the next elections. In line with this, the PUK has developed a programme to create more employment opportunities for the city’s youth. We are committed to supporting them and see ourselves as dedicated servants of the people of Kirkuk.”
