President Rashid Receives Arab and Islamic Ambassadors in Baghdad

Iraqi President Dr Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, today, received a number of ambassadors and heads of Arab and Islamic missions accredited to Iraq at Baghdad Palace. Discussions focused on the latest regional and international developments, as well as avenues to strengthen cooperation and consolidate bilateral and regional partnerships.

In his remarks, President Rashid underlined that Iraq is approaching an electoral process which constitutes a pivotal step in entrenching the principle of the peaceful transfer of power. He stressed that all parties are committed to ensuring the elections are conducted with the highest levels of transparency and integrity, reflecting the free will of the Iraqi people and their aspirations for a more prosperous future.

President Rashid reaffirmed that Iraq is making steady progress towards recovery, placing security and stability at the heart of its priorities, while advancing reconstruction, infrastructure development, investment, job creation, and measures to secure a dignified life for all citizens. He emphasised Iraq’s readiness to broaden its partnerships with fraternal and friendly states, based on mutual respect, and to enhance cooperation across development sectors.

Highlighting Iraq’s foreign policy, President Rashid explained that Baghdad pursues openness and balance, founded on constructive dialogue and effective diplomacy. He noted that avoiding escalation in political, economic, and developmental spheres contributes to easing tensions and promoting peace and stability across the region.

He also underscored the active role of the Presidency of Iraq in submitting key draft laws to the Iraqi parliament, directly impacting the lives of Iraq’s citizens. On the international front, he reiterated Iraq’s firm stance regarding the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, calling for a unified Arab and Islamic position to secure an immediate ceasefire, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, and protect civilians. He affirmed Iraq’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to self-determination and urged the international community to assume its responsibilities by advancing a political solution that restores rights and ends civilian suffering.

In conclusion, President Rashid welcomed the peace process under way in Türkiye, voicing his hope that it will bring an end to years of conflict and foster stability in the region.
