Rifaat Abdullah, Vice President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with heads and supervisors of the party’s centres and committees in the Sulaymaniyah region, underlining that strong coordination and mutual understanding between electoral campaign organisers and local centres is essential to securing the PUK’s success during the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections.
The meeting was attended by members of the Political Bureau, Sarkawt Zaki, Dr. Jwan Ihsan, and Rizgar Haji Hama, as well as Ziad Jabbar, member of the Leadership Council. Participants described the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Iraq as both crucial and historic, emphasising that the PUK must not be at ease by its previous vote share but must actively seek to expand its support in the next polls.
VP Abdullah highlighted the importance of party institutions fulfilling their responsibilities during the electoral campaigns with dedication, diligence, and comradeship. “In this democratic court, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan must emerge victorious to strengthen and safeguard the Kurdish identity and the rights of Kurdistan,” he stated.
He further stressed that “serving the people is the essence of true patriotism. Under the leadership of Bafel Jalal Talabani, the PUK will rise to meet the aspirations and needs of our people in both party and governmental life.”
