Iraqi President meets Iraqi PM in Baghdad.

The President of the Republic of Iraq, Dr Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, met on Tuesday, 12 August 2025, with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani.

They discussed the latest developments in the country and stressed the importance of uniting the positions of national forces in support of the government’s programme and plans aimed at achieving development and prosperity. They also reviewed regional issues, along with Iraq’s role and efforts in strengthening the foundations of security and stability in the region.

The meeting further addressed preparations for the forthcoming parliamentary elections, highlighting the need to ensure the conditions for their success — particularly by encouraging broad participation and enabling voters to choose their representatives in the Iraqi parliament in a way that reflects their aspirations and meets their requirements for comprehensive development.
