The General Secretariat of the Ministry of Peshmerga in the Kurdistan Region has confirmed that the aid provided by the Global Coalition to the Peshmerga will continue until the end of next year.
Major General Bakhtiar Mohammed, Secretary General of the Ministry of Peshmerga, told PUKMEDIA: “The aid provided by the Global Coalition to the Peshmerga will continue until the end of 2026.”
He added that a memorandum of understanding had been signed between the Ministry of Peshmerga and the U.S. Department of Defence (the Pentagon), formalising this ongoing support.
Regarding the nature of the assistance, Major General Mohammed explained:
“The support includes financial aid, training, and food supplies. While the form of this support may change, it will continue without interruption.”
Addressing reports of a reduction in the level of support, he said: “The amount allocated remains the same and has not changed. However, as new brigades continue to be formed within the Ministry of Peshmerga, the share of support per unit will decrease. This is because the total support is fixed, while the number of Peshmerga personnel in Ministry units is increasing.”
The financial support for July was distributed to the Ministry of Peshmerga on 7 August 2025, benefiting more than 74,000 Peshmerga personnel in the joint brigades.
