Kirkuk Governor welcomes Iraqi Oil Minister.

Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani, arrived in Kirkuk today, Wednesday, where he was welcomed at the airport by Kirkuk Governor Rebwar Taha and the Chairman of the Provincial Council, Engineer Mohammed al-Hafez.

Speaking to the press, and reported by PUKMEDIA, the Oil Minister stated: “Discussions are ongoing with our counterparts in the Kurdistan Region, particularly with the Ministry of Natural Resources, regarding the handover of oil extracted from the region.”

He continued: “Oil production in the Kurdistan Region has currently reached 130,000 barrels per day, of which 50,000 barrels are designated for domestic consumption. We are ready to receive and export the remainder via SOMO to the Turkish port of Ceyhan.”

He added: “Joint committees are continuing their discussions to determine the share of oil being extracted from the Kurdistan Region’s fields, and we hope to achieve a higher proportion in the near future.”
