Crude oil prices have seen a modest rebound following a period of decline, as geopolitical tensions once again take centre stage. Brent crude rose to approximately $68.07 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) climbed to around $65.56 per barrel, both marking gains of roughly 0.6%.

The increase follows recent remarks from U.S. President Donald Trump, threatening tariffs on nations purchasing Russian crude – a move that has reignited fears of supply disruptions. Meanwhile, U.S. crude inventories dropped unexpectedly by over 9 million barrels, further supporting prices.

Despite today’s recovery, market sentiment remains cautious as OPEC+ plans to increase production by 547,000 barrels per day starting in September, raising concerns of a potential oversupply.

Analysts suggest oil prices could continue to fluctuate, balancing geopolitical risks with economic uncertainty and weak global demand forecasts.
