The Commander of the 70s Forces of the Peshmerga met with Iraq’s Joint Operations Command (JOC) in Baghdad on Saturday, 2 August 2025, to discuss efforts to strengthen joint security and military cooperation.
According to a statement from the 70s Forces Media Office, "A high-level delegation from the 70s Forces Command, led by Major General Omar Salih Hassan, Commander of the 70s Forces, and accompanied by Diyari Omar, Commander of the Kurdistan Commando Forces, travelled to Baghdad for the meeting. The delegation was received by Lieutenant General Qais Khalaf al-Muhammadawi, Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations Command."
The statement noted that discussions focused on enhancing coordination between the two sides, particularly in combating terrorism and maintaining stability in areas located between Peshmerga and federal force deployment zones.
Both sides underlined the importance of strengthening communication channels, cooperation, and field coordination, especially in intelligence-sharing, information exchange, and the execution of joint operations.
The meeting aimed to improve overall readiness and synergy between the Peshmerga, the Iraqi Army, and other federal forces within the framework of joint operational plans and programmes.
