PUK Officials Meet in Baghdad to Boost Ties with Federal Government

As part of a series of significant engagements by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), a high-level meeting was convened in Baghdad, chaired by Nizar Amedi, head of the PUK Political Bureau in Baghdad. The meeting brought together key figures, including Minister of Justice Dr. Khalid Shwani, Minister of Environment Dr. Halo al-Askari, along with several undersecretaries and general directors.
The discussions focused on enhancing coordination and collaboration between the PUK and the Iraqi government, with particular attention given to overcoming administrative obstacles that hinder institutional effectiveness.
Participants stressed the importance of reinforcing the principles of national unity and peaceful coexistence, highlighting that greater cooperation would contribute to long-term stability and better serve the interests of citizens across Iraq.
Practical proposals were put forward to activate intergovernmental cooperation on various pressing issues, aiming to unify efforts between the federal and regional governments and achieve concrete progress in key development and governance sectors.
The meeting also touched upon the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for November, underscoring their significance in strengthening Iraq’s democratic trajectory and calling for concerted efforts to ensure a transparent and successful electoral process.
