PUK President, Iranian Diplomats Discuss Trade Expansion and Salary Agreement

PUK President welcomes Iranian delegation in Sulaymaniyah.

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received Faramarz Asadi, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil, and Mohammad Mahmoodian, Consul of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sulaymaniyah.

The meeting was also attended by Emad Ahmed and Dr Khasraw Gull Mohammed, members of the PUK Political Bureau. The participants discussed the general situation in Iraq and the wider region.

Both sides agreed on the importance of further developing relations and cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran — particularly in creating a more favourable environment for trade and joint initiatives.

The recent agreement on salaries was also addressed. President Bafel urged both the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad to honour the terms, reaffirming that efforts would continue with determination to ensure a dignified life for the people.
