The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Natural Resources issued a statement condemning a series of drone attacks on the Tawke, Peshkhabur, and Ain Sifni oil fields, located in the Zakho and Sheikhan districts of Duhok Province.

While no casualties have been reported, the Ministry confirmed that the attacks caused significant damage to critical oil infrastructure, threatening the Region’s economic stability and energy production capabilities.

These fields are among the key oil-producing sites in the Kurdistan Region, vital not only to the local economy but also to Iraq’s broader energy exports.

The Ministry described the attacks as “cowardly acts of terrorism” aimed at undermining the Kurdistan Region’s economic lifelines and jeopardising the safety of civilian workers operating in the sector.

In its statement, the Ministry called on the federal government and international partners to take immediate and decisive action to prevent further attacks and ensure the protection of vital infrastructure and innocent lives.

The KRG reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the security of its energy sector, emphasising its strategic role in contributing to regional and global energy stability.
