PUK Leadership to Convene as President Bafel Meets Iraqi Leaders Over Salary Crisis

A meeting of PUK’s Leadership Council

The Leadership Council of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) is set to convene tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, under the chairmanship of PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani. The meeting will focus on recent developments and ongoing efforts to resolve the issue of public sector salaries in the Kurdistan Region.

Earlier this evening, President Bafel Jalal Talabani arrived in Baghdad for meetings with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani and the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zidan, to discuss the salary situation. The visit follows a meeting held yesterday between the PUK and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).

The KDP has expressed its support for President Bafel Jalal Talabani’s efforts to secure salaries and bring an end to the issues.
