Iraqi Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, has instructed the relevant authorities to launch an immediate and thorough investigation into the recent drone attacks targeting two oil fields in the Kurdistan Region. He also ordered that those responsible be held fully accountable, with no tolerance or delay.

In a statement received by PUKMEDIA, Sabah al-Numan, the official spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief, described the attacks on two oil installations in the Kurdistan Region as a direct threat to the interests of the Iraqi people and an assault on the state’s efforts to promote stability and development.

Al-Numan stated: “The nature and timing of these criminal acts reflect deliberate intent to undermine the situation and cause harm to Iraq and its vital institutions.”

He added that the Prime Minister has emphasised the need for swift and decisive action to uncover those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice. The spokesperson affirmed that the Iraqi government, through all its institutions, will not tolerate any threats to the country’s interests.

“The government will take all necessary measures to protect strategic infrastructure, reinforce the nation’s defences, and prevent any recurrence of such acts, in order to uphold Iraq’s sovereignty and safeguard the rights of its citizens,” he said.
