The Sarsang Oil Field in Duhok was attacked on Tuesday morning, 15 July 2025, leading to a production halt.

According to press sources, the incident caused a fire in parts of the field, with technical teams currently working to extinguish it. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported among the personnel on site.

The Ministry of Natural Resources of the Kurdistan Region confirmed the attack in a statement, stating: “A terrorist attack was carried out on the Sarsang Oil Field in the Chamanke sub-district of Duhok province on Tuesday morning, involving a bomb-laden drone. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.”

The statement further noted that the attack follows two drone attacks on the Khurmala oil field in Erbil province the previous evening.

The Ministry of Natural Resources strongly condemned the attack, describing them as an attack on the economic infrastructure of the Kurdistan Region.

The attack forms part of a series of escalating drone strikes in the Kurdistan Region as the Erbil and Baghdad governments are working to reach an agreement on the resumption of the Kurdistan Region's oil exports and budget.

On Monday night, Two drones targeted the Khurmala oil field near Erbil, which also sustained damage to infrastructure but without casualties.
