Iraqi President Hails Türkiye-PKK Agreement as Key to Regional Stability

Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid received the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq Anil Bora İnan, at Baghdad Palace on Monday, 14 July 2025.

During the meeting, President Rashid underscored the importance of further strengthening the bilateral relationship between Iraq and Türkiye, highlighting the enduring friendship between the two nations and their peoples. 

The President commended the recent agreement reached between Türkiye and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), as well as the PKK's decision to disarm. He emphasised that this development constitutes a significant step towards consolidating security and stability throughout the region.

Ambassador İnan, in turn, conveyed his gratitude and appreciation for President Rashid’s efforts and his commitment to enhancing coordination and cooperation between the two countries. The Ambassador noted that bilateral relations are progressing positively across various sectors.
