Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, Member of the Political Bureau and Head of the Relations Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), has reiterated that the people of the Kurdistan Region must not continue to endure the current undesirable circumstances.
On Sunday, 13 July 2025, Rasul received Steven Bitner, U.S. Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, for discussions focused on the ongoing issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government in Baghdad.
“We have intensified our efforts with the international community and political parties to reach a fundamental agreement with Baghdad. The salary issue has, regrettably, become a political tool used against the citizens of the Kurdistan Region,” Rasul stated.
“The living conditions of the people are deteriorating, and the salary crisis must be resolved by any means necessary,” he added.
He further emphasised that the meeting with Consul General Bitner focused on resolving outstanding issues through dialogue. “We made it clear that we will continue to exert every effort to find solutions through peaceful dialogue, as the citizens of the Kurdistan Region can no longer remain in this undesirable and unjust situation,” Rasul said.
