Qubad Talabani, Head of the Secretariat Bureau of President Mam Jalal, met on Saturday, 12 July 2025, with the deputy heads, department heads, and committee chairs of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK) 3rd Headquarters in Erbil. The meeting was held in the presence of Dr Majid Hamad Amin, Head of the 3rd Erbil Headquarters.
During the meeting, Talabani addressed the internal political landscape in the Kurdistan Region, with particular focus on the living conditions and welfare of public employees.
He reaffirmed the PUK’s position, stating: "The PUK believes that the alternative to an agreement is an agreement. We are committed to exerting every effort to resolve the salary issue and other outstanding matters between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad through an agreement."
He continued, "The PUK is deeply concerned about the lives of the Region's citizens and has mobilised all its resources to expedite solutions to the current challenges."
Talabani also discussed the party’s preparations for the upcoming term of the Iraqi parliamentary elections. Emphasising the importance of the elections, he stated that the PUK is fully prepared and aspires to secure a major victory.
"The PUK's victory in this election is an indisputable necessity. It is not only essential for strengthening Kurdish representation in Iraq and the wider region but also critical for addressing key issues between Erbil and Baghdad and for improving the daily lives of the Kurdish people," he said.
In light of current developments in Iraq and the region, Talabani urged party members to fulfil their responsibilities with dedication to collect as many votes as possible for the PUK list and its candidates when the election campaign starts.
