The Media Directorate of 70s Forces Command has issued a firm denial in response to recent reports circulating on unverified social media platforms, which claimed that military sectors and Peshmerga units were carrying out extraordinary movements in some of the disputed areas.
In an official statement released today, 70s Forces Command described the reports as entirely baseless and emphasised that no such military activity has taken place.
“We completely reject this false news,” the statement read. “There have been no movements by our forces in the areas in question.”
The Command further clarified that full coordination is maintained with Iraq’s Joint Operations Command and confirmed that the two sides have recently cooperated closely to thwart terrorist threats and hostile movements in the region.
“The Peshmerga forces remain on high alert and are fully prepared to counter any conspiracies or acts of aggression by enemies or terrorist groups,” the statement continued.
70s Forces also reassured the public, urging citizens not to place trust in unverified information and stressing that the circulated rumours are entirely untrue.
“We call on all media outlets and users of social media to approach such matters with responsibility and integrity, and to rely on official sources when reporting on sensitive security issues,” the statement concluded.
Earlier in the day, Iraq's Security Media Cell also issued a statement firmly denying any movement of units belonging to the Iraqi Army, the Popular Mobilisation Forces, or the Peshmerga within the “joint border areas of concern between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region.”
