The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) convened its 48th extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers on Monday, 16 June 2025, to address recent regional developments and the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.

According to a statement by GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi, the emergency session was held via video conference and chaired by Abdullah Al-Yahya, Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The GCC Secretary-General underscored the urgent need for an immediate cessation of hostilities between the two parties, emphasising the importance of safeguarding regional security and stability.

The GCC urged the United Nations Security Council and the broader international community to take immediate and decisive measures to halt the war.

It also warned that the continuation of such conflicts risks fuelling further escalation and instability, posing a serious threat to both regional and international peace.
