Tensions between Israel and Iran escalated further on Monday as both countries carried out new rounds of military strikes, leading to rising casualties and growing regional concern.
According to Iranian state media, a series of missile strikes targeted areas in Tel Aviv and Haifa during the early hours, resulting in at least five fatalities and over 100 injuries. Iranian officials described the attacks as a response to recent Israeli operations on Iranian territory, stating they were directed at military installations.
In retaliation, the Israeli military confirmed it had launched air strikes on missile sites in western and central Iran. The Israeli Ministry of Defence said the strikes were aimed at reducing the threat posed by ongoing missile launches. Iranian authorities reported more than 200 deaths, including members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Both governments have issued firm statements emphasising their right to self-defence, with warnings that further action could follow if hostilities persist.
The conflict has triggered significant civilian displacement. Humanitarian organisations estimate that over 100,000 people have fled Tehran in recent days due to security concerns. In Israel, emergency services are responding to damage sustained in several urban areas.
International bodies and world leaders have reiterated calls for calm, urging both nations to engage in dialogue and avoid further escalation that could destabilise the broader region.
At present, diplomatic progress remains uncertain, and the situation continues to evolve rapidly.
