The office of the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) issues a statement concerning the recent escalations in the Middle East, in which he urged the international community to take direct steps to prevent further escalation.
The message of the office of the PUK Presidency said:
We condemn the strikes on Iran that have precipitated this perilous escalation in the Middle East, constituting a blatant infringement of Iraqi sovereignty. Such actions undermine fundamental principles of international law and pose a significant risk of further destabilising our already precarious region.
This escalation is not only reckless—it is deliberately timed to sabotage the diplomatic efforts initiated under the leadership of President Trump.
This Adminstrations efforts for a balanced and secure Middle East through dialogue has laid the groundwork for a viable path forward. Acts like this are a direct challenge to those efforts.
We express our heartfelt condolences for the loss of lives, especially among civilians, whose suffering continues to be the heaviest burden of these cycles of violence.
We urge the international community to take direct steps to prevent further escalation. The people of the Middle East deserve a lasting peace, which is achievable only through dialogue and negotiations.
We reaffirm that the Kurdistan Region remains safe, stable, and secure. We will take all necessary measures to ensure the protection of our people and preserve the stability that we have worked so hard to maintain, even as turbulence surrounds us.
The Office of the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK)
