Iraqi Parliament to Hold Extraordinary Session

The Iraqi Parliament announced it will convene an extraordinary session to address the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, as well as recent cross-border hostilities. The session was requested through an initiative led by several parliamentary blocs.

According to a statement released by the Parliament's media office, received by PUKMEDIA, the session is scheduled for Tuesday, 17 June 2025.

The statement noted: “The session will be dedicated to discussing the ongoing war between Iran and Israel, along with violations of Iraqi sovereignty.”

Chro Hama Sharif, a Member of the Iraqi Parliament from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) bloc, informed PUKMEDIA that the request was submitted by 55 lawmakers of various political groups.

She added: “Members of Parliament are calling for Iraqi airspace not to be used in regional conflicts, and for full respect to be shown for Iraq’s sovereignty.”
