Iraq Temporarily Suspends All Flights Amid Regional Escalation

Iraq has closed its airspace and suspended all air traffic across the country in response to rising regional tensions following Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites, the Ministry of Transport announced on Friday, 13 June 2025.

In a statement issued by the Ministry’s media office, it was confirmed that "Due to regional tensions, Iraqi air navigation and airspace have been suspended until further notice, in order to safeguard civil aviation within Iraqi airspace."

The statement further noted that the General Company for Air Navigation Services had initiated the gradual evacuation of Iraqi airspace of all arriving, departing, and transiting aircraft. The measure aims to ensure the safety of passengers travelling to Iraqi airports as well as those on international routes passing through the country's airspace.
