Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid's meeting with Steven Fagin, Chargé d'Affaires of the U. S.
On Monday, 2 June 2025, Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid received Steven Fagin, the newly appointed Chargé d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Iraq, at the Presidential Palace in Baghdad.
According to a statement issued by the Presidency and obtained by PUKMEDIA, President Rashid congratulated Mr Fagin on assuming his new post and wished him success in his diplomatic mission. The two sides discussed the state of bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States, exploring avenues for further cooperation across a range of sectors.
The President emphasised the growing stability in Iraq across political, security, economic, and developmental spheres. He also highlighted the positive trajectory of Iraq’s regional and international relations, noting that this progress provides a solid foundation for enhancing bilateral cooperation with the United States and advancing shared interests.
Mr Fagin reaffirmed the United States' commitment to supporting Iraq’s efforts towards development and stability. He praised Iraq’s pivotal role in fostering regional peace and security, expressing confidence in the continued strengthening of ties between the two nations.
