A representative from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) bloc in the Iraqi parliament has confirmed ongoing efforts to address the concerns and challenges faced by poultry farm owners in the Kurdistan Region and to identify practical solutions.

MP Dr. Bryar Rashid told PUKMEDIA: “In order to follow up on the demands of poultry farmers, we held a meeting with Sami al-Sudani, the Iraqi Prime Minister’s advisor on border crossings and customs affairs.”

He added: “During the discussion, the advisor expressed his willingness to cooperate with the poultry sector. It was agreed that a further meeting would take place in Baghdad, with the poultry farm owners in attendance, to explore suitable resolutions to their issues and to support the marketing of their products.”

The PUK bloc had earlier listened to the concerns of poultry farm owners and received a memorandum detailing their most pressing issues — most notably, fears of bankruptcy caused by obstacles impeding the marketing of their goods. The PUK bloc reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing efforts, promising to pursue comprehensive solutions to these problems. It also pledged to step up its work to ease product marketing and remove the barriers at checkpoints that are obstructing exports to the central and southern governorates.
