Asayish Foils Drug Smuggling Attempt, Seizes 12kg of Crystal Meth

The Asayish Directorate in Raparin has announced the arrest of three individuals involved in drug trafficking, following two separate operations which resulted in the seizure of 12 kilograms of crystal meth.
In a statement sent to PUKMEDIA, the Directorate said: “On the 7th and 8th of May 2025, following intelligence gathering and close surveillance, and acting on an order from the Asayish investigative judge, our forces successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle approximately 12 kilograms of crystal meth.”
The statement further noted that the individuals had intended to traffic the drugs to various cities within the Kurdistan Region.
The Raparin Asayish Directorate confirmed that the suspects are currently being held under the authority of the judge, in accordance with Article 26 of the Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law, and that investigations are still ongoing.
