Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, has issued a statement following the Kurdistan Workers' Party's (PKK) decision to disband and disarm, calling on the Turkish government, legal institutions, and political parties to capitalise on this moment to resolve the Kurdish issue through legal and peaceful means.

“In its 12th Congress, the PKK has fulfilled its responsibility towards the peace process in Türkiye and has paved the way for a new chapter,” Deputy PM Talabani stated.

“We sincerely hope that the Turkish government, its legal institutions, and political parties will seize this opportunity to address the Kurdish issue in a lawful and peaceful manner,” he added.
