Asayish Seizes 10 Kilograms of Crystal Meth in Sulaymaniyah

The Kurdistan Region Security Agency (Asayish) announced on Saturday, 10 May 2025, the arrest of four suspected drug traffickers and the seizure of 10 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in Sulaymaniyah.
In an official statement received by PUKMEDIA, the Asayish said: "Based on accurate intelligence and in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Directorate in Erbil Governorate, the Anti-Narcotics General Directorate of the Kurdistan Region's Asayish successfully conducted a significant operation, resulting in the arrest of four individuals and the confiscation of 10 kilograms of crystal meth."
The statement further noted that the suspects had intended to transport the drugs to Duhok Governorate. The four individuals are currently in custody by order of the court; three are Iranian nationals, while the fourth is a resident of the Kurdistan Region.
The Asayish reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking, stating: "The Asayish continues to work in close coordination with all security bodies of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government, through intelligence sharing and joint operations, to tackle the spread of narcotics across the region."
