Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region.
Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, offered congratulations to the Kurds of Rojava (Northeast Syria) on the occasion of the successful conclusion of the Unity of Kurdish Rank in Rojava Conference.
The Unity of Kurdish Rank in Rojava Conference concluded on Saturday evening, 26 April 2025, with participants agreeing to develop a unified Kurdish political vision aimed at resolving the Kurdish issue in Syria. A key outcome of the conference was the decision to form a joint delegation to engage in negotiations with the new government in Damascus. Held in Qamishli, northeastern Syria, the Unity of Kurdish Rank in Rojava Conference brought together 400 representatives from across the greater Kurdistan region—including the north, south, east, and west—reflecting a broad commitment to fostering intra-Kurdish dialogue and unity.
VP Sheikh Mustafa's message following the successful conclusion of the conference said:
"On the occasion of the successful conclusion of the Unity of Kurdish Rank in Rojava Conference, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Kurds of Rojava, to Kurds across all parts of Kurdistan, and to everyone who contributed to the organisation and success of this historic gathering.
The significance of this conference lies in its clear message to the world: the Kurdish nation remains steadfast in its commitment to peace and consistently pursues peaceful solutions to challenges arising from political changes and regional developments. By convening this conference, Kurdish political forces have demonstrated their readiness to engage in constructive dialogue and to seek inclusive, democratic solutions for the future of Syria.
I sincerely hope that the outcomes, recommendations, and programs adopted by this conference will be implemented within a realistic political framework and in coordination with all relevant parties. Our collective aim should be to bring the transitional phase in Syria to a close and to help build a new Syria-one that embraces all its peoples, respects both regional and international relations, and serves as a strong foundation for lasting security and stability in the region."
