Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Steven Bittner, the United States (U.S.) Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting, the two sides emphasised the importance of strengthening relations and cooperation between the Kurdish and American peoples across various sectors, particularly in diplomacy, security, and trade.

They also held in-depth discussions on the situation in the Middle East, underlining the need for continued dialogue among all parties to reduce tensions in the region.

Another key topic of the meeting was the formation of the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). President Bafel reaffirmed the PUK's commitment to working towards the establishment of an efficient, strong, and service-oriented government ahead of the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections.
