Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), welcomed Irfan Siddiq, the newly appointed British Ambassador to Iraq, to Dabashan, Sulaymaniyah.

During their discussions, they reviewed recent developments in the area, underlining each party’s dedication to resolving issues peacefully and preserving stability across the Middle East.

Both sides emphasised the importance of expediting the establishment of the new Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet, believing that its swift formation would further revitalise the Kurdistan Region and harmonise Kurdish political discourse on regional affairs.

They also exchanged perspectives on creating favourable conditions for the forthcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections and settling outstanding matters between Erbil and Baghdad.

President Bafel concluded by outlining his stance on Syria and Western Kurdistan, affirming: “Efforts persist to unify the Kurdish position there, and the PUK will spare no effort to achieve this national goal, enabling negotiations with the new Syrian government to proceed under a coherent strategy that safeguards Kurdish rights and secures stability and security throughout the area.”
