Iraq Extends Voter Register Update Period by One Month

The Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced today, Wednesday, that the period for updating the voter register has been extended by one month, with effect from tomorrow, Thursday 24 April 2025.

In a letter issued by the General Secretariat of the Board of Commissioners, it was stated that “the Board of Commissioners considered the memorandum from the Head of the Electoral Administration concerning the extension of the voter register update process and unanimously resolved to prolong the update period by one month, commencing on Thursday 24 April 2025.”

Jumana Al‑Ghalai, Spokesperson for the IHEC, told PUKMEDIA that “the Commission will welcome voters at 1,079 registration centres throughout Iraq’s governorates to amend their details.”
