Iraqi President Visits Diyala Governorate.
The President of the Republic of Iraq, Dr Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, paid a visit to Diyala Province to promote national unity, bolster local governance, and support ongoing development initiatives.
During meetings with Governor Adnan al-Shammari, members of parliament, and local council representatives, he underlined the importance of joint efforts to enhance public services and maintain regional stability.
Commending Diyala’s endurance in the face of terrorism, Iraqi President called for greater cooperation among political and community leaders, describing the province as a “microcosm of Iraq” due to its rich cultural diversity.
In discussions with tribal leaders, he acknowledged their vital role in upholding civil peace and expressed the government’s commitment to strengthening agriculture and rural development, particularly in tackling water scarcity.
While visiting Diyala University, President Rashid reaffirmed the federal government’s support for higher education, advocating for curriculum reform and stronger ties between universities and the labour market. He also highlighted the importance of investing in human capital and effectively utilising national resources to improve services and drive sustainable progress.
Local leaders welcomed the President’s visit as a meaningful show of support and a positive step towards enhanced cooperation and future development.
