According to a statement by the Iraqi Presidency, the Iraqi President received a delegation from the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) at Baghdad Palace on Monday 21 April 2025. The delegation was led by Chairman Judge Omar Ahmed Mohammed.

He underscored that credible, inclusive elections are essential to restoring trust in democratic institutions and ensuring governance that truly reflects the will of the people.
Highlighting the importance of transparency, fairness and electoral justice, the President called for a process that meets the expectations of Iraqi citizens in choosing their representatives, according to the statement. He also emphasised the need for a robust media and outreach strategy to raise public awareness, encourage voter turnout and reinforce the nation’s democratic trajectory.
