PUK President Stresses Dialogue and Swift Cabinet Formation in Meeting With US Official

PUK President meets US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in Sulaymaniyah.

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Victoria Taylor, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran Near Eastern Affairs, in Sulaymaniyah.

The meeting, also attended by Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, Head of the PUK’s Relations Bureau, focused on the political landscape in Iraq, regional developments, and the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the United States.

Both parties underscored the importance of resolving issues peacefully through dialogue. President Bafel said, “The PUK consistently plays a constructive role in maintaining stability, and we are continuing our efforts to bring the perspectives of all sides closer together. We encourage all parties to steer clear of further crises.”

He also addressed the formation of the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government, stating, “Our discussions have been positive, and we are hopeful that the PUK and the KDP will reach a consensus soon in order to establish an effective and service-oriented government.
