Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, received Victoria Taylor, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Iraq and Iran Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, on Tuesday, 15 April 2025, where they discussed issues of shared interest.

The Syrian situation, the peace process in Türkiye, and the latest regional developments were all reviewed during the meeting.

The meeting also focused on the Kurdistan Region's political situation and the establishment of the new Kurdistan Regional Government. Qubad Talabani referred to the recent meeting between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in this regard.

"The discussions are going well, and all efforts are focused on reaching an agreement as soon as possible on the formation of a strong, effective, and unified government," he said. 

The two sides also touched upon bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and the United States, where Qubad Talabani said: "The Kurdistan Region has major opportunities for American companies and investors. The regional government wants them to participate more actively in the Kurdistan Region's development and affirms its readiness to offer any kind of support and assistance in this regard."
