PUK and KDP Continue Talks to Advance Formation of New KRG Cabinet

Delegations from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) convened today, Tuesday, at the KDP’s Political Bureau headquarters in Pirmam, Erbil Province, to continue discussions on forming the new government in the Kurdistan Region, alongside other related matters.
A joint statement released after the meeting confirmed that the talks were held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere. "The discussions focused on the steps required to form the new government. Positive progress and encouraging developments were noted,” the statement read. It also emphasised that further meetings between the two sides would take place in the coming days.
Previous meetings between the PUK and KDP negotiating teams have led to a “common understanding and preliminary agreement” on most key points. These outcomes are expected to be submitted to the joint negotiating committee for finalisation.
